Upper East Side

Description

The Upper East Side, commonly abbreviated as UES, is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in New York City. The neighborhood is in the Manhattan borough and it lies between Central Park East and East River and between 59th Street and 110th Street. If you want to live in a rent apartment in Upper East Side, it is important that you weigh the pros of doing so against the cons and that you know all the facts about the neighborhood.

One advantage of living in Manhattan apartments in the Upper East Side is the fact that it is lined with pre-war apartment buildings. Most of the buildings are pre-war brownstones and most of these have been designated as landmarks. The neighborhood also has condo rentals. Most of the apartment buildings and condominium rentals are no fee rentals. Like most of the other Manhattan neighborhoods, most of the dwellings here are pre-war and post-war cooperatives. This means it is possible to get Upper East Side real estate through coop sales NYC. If you do not have much to spare, there are many convertible studios in the neighborhood.

If you have school-going children, there are several good private and public schools in the Upper East Side. These include Convent of the Sacred Heart, Spence School, Hewitt School, St. Bernard's School, Allen-Stevenson School, Loyola School, Dalton School, Lycée Français de New York, La Scuola d'Italia Guglielmo Marconi, and several others. Living in the Upper East Side is convenient if you are in Hunter College, Marymount Manhattan College, Cornell University Medical School, Metropolitan Hospital, or Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

The Upper East Side is near Central Park. This is important if you need to walk your dog, take time out to relax, or exercise. If you love culture, then you should consider Upper East Side apartments. This is because the Upper East Side has several museums. These include the Neue Gallerie, Whitney, and several others. For transport, the neighborhood has MTA buses and the NYC Subway System. Many residents also use taxis. There are several hotel bars and world-famous hotels and restaurants. The neighborhood has an impressive nightlife. The Upper East Side is very ‘New York’ with a Dylan's Candy Bar, a Windsor Florist, a Bloomingdales, and a Serendipity store. If you live here, you get to enjoy not only the scenery of New York, but also the atmosphere. Some of the notable buildings in the neighborhood are the Trump Plaza, the Trump Palace, 740 Park Avenue, and Trump Park Avenue.

Although it is indeed possible to get an apartment for sale in Upper East Side, there are cost constraints. Because it is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Manhattan, it follows that you need deep pockets to own real estate here. When searching for Upper East Side apartment rentals, you should note that you would be faced by several other challenges. It is difficult to find parking in the Upper East Side and you should be prepared for frustrating traffic jams if you will be using private transport to move around.
